MBABANE bang! – Back with a

Eswatini Talent Search formerly known as Mankayane Talent Search is an annual music competitio­n for local talent. The upcoming show will be held in Nhlangano at Fusion Pup & Grill on September 24 2022.

The event organised by Abaphile Foundation, will see upcoming artists showcase and battle for lucrative prizes in five genres which are Hip Hop, poetry, dance, Maskandi and Amapiano. The registrati­on for keen artists has been open and will be slam shut on August 20th.

The foundation will host the talent shows, to further help young people correspond­ing with the charity’s main mandate which is to empower young people in education, entreprene­urship and arts.

The main aim of the event is to unearth and promote upcoming local talent in the arts industry. The event also seeks to provide a platform for local brands to showcase, promote and sell their merchandis­e and market themselves. In the first event, the organisati­on was able to attract a reasonable crowd of more than 500 people. It saw performanc­es from award-winning artist Mr Kangaroo, renowned poet Magcolo and Wesive. “The upcoming event is going to be bigger and better as we expect upcoming artist from all four regions in the country to be part of the event. We will also bring a very strong line-up of headline performers in collaborat­ion with Fusion Pup & Grill. Our target is to have numbers way above 1000 to grace the event,” said the Founder and Director at the Abaphile foundation, Nkosinathi Mkhaliphi.

Focuses

The foundation also focuses on empowering the youth in the kingdom in education, entreprene­urship, arts and other social issues affecting the lives of young people, such as unemployme­nt, gender-based violence (GBV), mental health and many more. In 2021, the organisati­on started an initiative dubbed ‘World of Opportunit­ies Schools Tour’ which is an initiative meant to inspire high school students across the country through: Education, arts, motivation­al talks, mental health and carrier guidance.

The return of the Eswatini Talent Show will see influentia­l speakers and top talents in the arts industry performing and inspiring young talented students. Students are also given a platform to showcase their talents
