Those who don’t support others
Tis an unpopular popular claim that generally ‘Emaswati anemona’ (Swati people are full of jealousy), and that could be the main reason why they lack progress and have plenty downfalls. With the recent ridiculous fuel price hikes and the ever increasing cost of living that unfortunately does correspond or correlate with current government subsidies and salaries, more people are finding themselves having to start and own side gigs to supplement their ‘peanuts’ income. Also due to the high employment rate in our country, more people are resorting to creating their own jobs than relying on getting employed. Now, this is really good and an ideal alternative to the stresses associated with job hunting, but in reality, there are a number challenges.
Amongst the many challenges faced by budding entrepreneurs, is lack of support in general. What is even more painful in most cases is when the much needed support is not received from those closest to you. In fact, more often than not, close family and friends are almost always the last ones to show support (if at all). This is usually very discouraging for new business owners. It is for that reason that this weekend’s take will focus on the above mentioned topic.
According to Kylie Mowbray-Allen, the following are some of the reasons why friends and family do not support one another in their businesses:
Firstly, she says, we must note and be aware of the fact that your friends and family are not your

Wblock is a condition, primarily associated with writing, in which an author is either unable to produce new work or experiences a creative slowdown. Mike Rose found that this creative stall is not a result of commitment problems or the lack of writing skills. “Writer’s block is a temporary or lasting failure to put words on paper. It can hit every writer, if only for a few minutes or a day or two, but it becomes a real problem when the writer is not reaching targets and when they feel incapable of completing a piece of work.”
What Causes Writer’s Block. Every writer experiences different roadblocks on their writing journey. Some of those roadblocks are external: rejections from literary journals, disagreements with book publishers, lack of time and resources, and the likes. What are the symptoms of writers block? Writer’s block affects everyone differently. The common symptoms it might cause include anxiety or worry,

customers. They are usually not even your target audience or market.
Secondly, friends and family may not believe in or like the product or service that you’re offering. Thirdly, even if they tell you how great it is and how proud of you they are, but then don’t follow through with booking, attending or buying, perhaps they just don’t want to pick up what you’re putting down. If you have NOT established yourself as an expert in your field, it has to be due to the fact that you are inconsistent.
Fourthly, maybe they want something for free. People don’t realise the hours (years!), energy and money that you’ve spent to produce your product or service. They have no idea what it has taken you to get to where you are in your entrepreneurial journey. There may be a time where you can give away free goods and services to your loved ones, but again it comes back to - are they even your target market?
Lastly, your branding is everything! You have to be constantly telling your story and having it connect with your target market. On the other hand, Celestine Chua proposes the following as a solution to dealing with unsupportive friends and family. She suggests that you must reduce the pressure you’re putting on your relationships by redirecting your support needs elsewhere, be it internally (yourself) or externally (other people). Usually this is a great opportunity for you to practice to be more self-sufficient. Furthermore,
depression, troubles at the workplace or school, muscle tension, headaches, and digestive troubles related to stress. Is writer’s block depression? Writer’s block is probably less important than other side effects of depression, but it can feed into that depression cycle.
It’s easier said than done, however, you’re dealing with depression. Experts advise to continue to engage in the activities that brought your life joy before depressive episodes began. Is it normal to have writers block? The reason why it’s so hard to get started and find continuous inspiration varies greatly from person to person.
While writer’s block is commonly experienced by writers and creatives, some experts, like writer and psychologist Susan Reynolds, claim that it’s just a myth and not a psychological condition at all. It happens to every writer. It’s inevitable. Your prose has turned to mush, you don’t have a creative bone left in your body, and you want to throw in the towel.
Writer’s block; Every writer struggles with it. But what you do with it is what really matters. Before we talk about solutions, though, lets talk about the problem.
The reasons for your block may vary, but some common ones include:
identify your support needs, how you can redirect these needs and start working on them and maybe even have a heart-toheart with those whose support really matter.
Chua also suggests the following for when friends and family actively discourage you: Firstly,
you should take their discouragement as a good thing. Whenever you get people dissuading you from pursuing something, that usually means there is great value hidden in the goal. This also means when you finally achieve your goal, there are going to be some really great things in store for you.
people’s discouragement usually reflects their inner fears and beliefs. For example, if you have someone discouraging you from pursuing your goal of being a dancer, it says more about their belief that dancers don’t make good money or that it’s hard to make it as a dancer. However, this is only their belief, not a fact.
Thirdly, when your friends and family make a point to share their disapproval, that’s really just their own special way of saying, “Hey, I care about you.” It’s just that they don’t know how else to express that, especially if they are not good at expressing themselves. Hence, be happy and find joy in the fact that they are really trying to show care and concern for you.
according to Alden Tan, you must remember the following seven things when people don’t support you in general:
1. Your passion is a priority - A lot
Secondly, Lastly,
Timing: It’s simply not the right time to write. Your ideas may need to stew a little longer before writing them down.
Fear: Many writers struggle with being afraid, with putting their ideas (and themselves) out there for everyone to see and critique. Fear is a major reason some writers never become writers.
Perfectionism: You want everything to be just right before you ever put pen to paper or touch a keyboard. You try to get it perfect in your head and never do, so you never begin. To help you through this, we created ‘Don’t Hit Publish’. It’s a free tool that tells you if your blog post is good enough to publish and also give you tips on how to improve it.
So how do we vanquish this enemy? It’s a tough question to answer, and I’m afraid I don’t have a great solution. I’ve wrestled with writer’s block on many occasions, and each victory looked different. That’s the thing about writing: it’s an art, not a science. And you’ll have to approach it as such. There is no formulaic fix, no ‘7 Steps to Becoming a Better Writer Now.’ Except one, but you already know what it is: Start hacking away. Begin trying stuff. Sometimes, the quirkier, the better. The trick is find something that works for you.
Here are a few ideas to help you of people go through motions in life, not doing what they love. They end up constantly looking back, asking themselves, “What if?” Whether people support you or not, do you really want to look back in regret one day down the line? To not know what could have happened if you had tried to do what you really wanted to do? This love of yours is one of the most important things in your life. Follow your heart, and not the words of others, just to live up to their expectations.
Life is short - It may be a little disheartening to have people around you discourage you, but remember, life is short. Do you really want to spend your time feeling down over others’ words when they’re completely unwarranted, baseless, and probably not making any kind of sense? Do you really want to pull back on following your dream or doing what you want because of others, and start living a life that probably doesn’t fulfill your potential? Remember that life is short, and it will be easier to stick to your own convictions when other people disagree with your choices or put you down.
Others may not fully understand - People who don’t support you and discourage you may not actually be bad people who intentionally want to destroy your dreams. Sometimes they just don’t understand why you do what you do, so they voice out their concerns, which may make them seem dissenting. I personally try not to take it to heart when people discourage me. I see it as they need a little education and explanation. Or sometimes, I just ignore them. If anything, since they don’t fully understand, I don’t see why it’s something to be upset over.
4. Sometimes others are insecure 2. 3.
work through your creative constipation:
Go for a walk.
Eliminate distractions Do something to get blood flowing.
Play.
Change your environment. Read a book.
Freewrite.
Listen to music
Brew some coffee
Create a routine. Many famous writers have daily routines to summon the Muse. Spend time with someone who makes you feel good.
Call an old friend.
Brainstorm ideas points.
Read some inspiring quotes to get you started.
The possibilities are endless, but movement is critical. You need to generate momentum to get out of your funk. Once you start heading in a direction, it’s easier to pick up speed. And before you know it, your block will be a distant memory and you’ll be doing what you once thought impossible. You’ll be writing.

peacefully with my patiently, - Sometimes when people don’t support what you’re doing, it may be more about them than you. It could be plain ignorance or even jealousy, but some people tend to attack things that are new to them. So again, don’t take their words to heart. If their criticism isn’t constructive in any way, they may be discouraging you because of their own fears and insecurities.
5. Anything is possible - Nobody can predict the future for certain. The people who don’t support you might paint a gloomy picture of what’s to come if you do what you want to do. You don’t know the future either, but do you want to listen to others instead of believing in yourself ? Don’t let objections from others become your truth and limit you from creating what you want in life. Anything is possible if you believe in yourself and work hard.
You can do this without their support - It’s natural to want support and encouragement from the people around you, but it is possible to do what you want to do without it. Just think of how many successful, inspiring people took the road less traveled. You’re a very powerful being, just by yourself. Believe in that, don’t give up, and you’ll go a long way, whichever road you take. And finally…
7. You can’t please everyone in life - You can’t. It’s impossible. And a lot of people forget that. If you try to please everyone, it’s going to be next to impossible. So don’t bother. Keep your focus on what you want to do and why. In an ideal world, we could constantly surround ourselves with positivity. We can’t do that, but we can work on ourselves so that we stay committed and positive.

ADDITIONAL PROOF READING MUCH NEED
Like ships setting out to sea; And as my pen moves they flow, flow,
Flow graciously out of me.
But today is not the same. Ideas are stuck in my brain, As I sit and think, think, Think of something lame.
And it is to my simple shock, That i have no ideas in stock, For today I’m afraid I’m stuck, stuck,
Stuck in a writer’s block.
Edward James
In conclusion, writing is never a smooth process, and most successful writing proceeds in fits and starts. Writer’s block refers to those greater-than-ordinary blockages. It occurs when a writer feels truly stuck and unable to write.
There are many possible causes, including anxiety, stress, or a simple lack of understanding of the material. I’ve definitely been having writer’s block these days, I’ve had to dig deep down into the centre of me just to come up with topics. It’s been painful; sometimes you can read, there’s no passion. You wrote an article with all the facts but no fun. You write because you are a writer but your heart for writing is old because you want what you write to have meaning and be deep, but sometimes it just has to be information.
