4 flag bearers in Commonweal­th Games

EZULWINI – Four of the country’s athletes will be privileged to be the flag bearers during the 2022 Birmingham Commonweal­th Games.

The country will be sending a team of 11 athletes from four sporting codes to the games starting July 28 to August 8, in the United Kingdom (UK).

The four sporting codes are athletics, swimming, boxing and cycling. The duo of Sibusiso ‘Swazi Bolt’ Matsenjwa and Hayley Hoy will be the flag bearers for the opening ceremony on July 28, while boxer Thabiso Dlamini and sprinter Bongiwe Mahlalela will take charge of the closing ceremony on August 8.

The flag bearers were announced by the Eswatini Olympic and Commonweal­th Games Associatio­n (EOCGA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Maxwell Jele during the team’s farewell function hosted by the British High Commission at Royal Villas on Thursday evening.
