Mozambique ‘camp’ for Bob Cats

MBABANE – It seems that Bob Cats have learnt a lot in over the weekend, that will benefit the team and volleyball as a whole.

Bob Cats had a team building exercise in Mozambique where they learnt a lot that could be adopted to lift the morale of the sport in the team and in the country.

“We got a chance to watch Zonal Club Championsh­ips which featured a dominant Zone IV team that has won it several times. So we got the chance to watch and learn from their style of play which if implemente­d well, shall benefit us as a team,” Bob Cats captain Sanele Mndzebele explained.

Mozambique is recognised as one of the nations with high agility when it comes to volleyball in the region.

In Mozambique, they were also afforded the opportunit­ies to copy some key skills from their Mozambican counterpar­ts in an effort to rebuild the team and reshape their playing style.

According to Bob Cats Acting Manager Eric Gama, the team on Saturday watched volleyball games played in Maputo in Pholani High Schools, just next to the Eswatini Embassy while playing beach volleyball on Sunday before returning home.

Gama said that this move was needed to build unity among players and make them feel valued while also gaining confidence. Gama said at times, the team lost players to other teams such as in 2019. fight for us. We are always fighting for that,” he said.

Young Buffaloes have a must-win match against Comoros’ Olympique De Moroni on Thursday afternoon if they need to fulfill their bronze dream. Match kick-off time is 3:30pm. Group A giants,

He did mention that not all the players travelled to Mozambique as some had special commitment­s. Bob Cats also have a legends team, Bob Masters, and a women’s team which is the Bob Ladies. Some of the players who travelled had this to say.

Raymond Dube: We learnt a lot from them as we saw the zonal gold medallists play. As a team, there’s something we gained from them, the style of play is amazing. We also had fun as we also went to play beach volleyball at Costa De sol beach.

Nomfundo Dlamini: Bob Cats is at rebuilding phase and with new players from developmen­t and that we recruited. So this exercise was welcome and really helpful for us for building team spirit as we also had a chance to watch Mozambique teams play. The players also got an opportunit­y to train at the beach. who are the defending champions of the tournament, Mamelodi Sundowns, will take on Botswana’s Double Action tomorrow at noon. All eight games of the tournament will be played at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium and spectators gain free entry.
