- BY MXOLISI DLAMINI

MANZINI – South African (SA) DJ Lulo Cafe left fun lovers begging for more music during his live performance for the Deep House Conversations show held at Manzini Club on Sunday.

The show is a concept strictly for House music lovers, it’s hosted every last Sunday of the month, and also features local Deep House DJs. The last edition of the Deep House Conversations was held last month, July 31 at Manzini Club. The show featured SA Deep House DJ Vinny Da Vinci, who also gave a captivating performance for Deep House music lovers. The show started late in the afternoon with only few fun lovers present at the venue. During the day, local DJs such as DJ Crooks and DJ Fantancy were on the decks dishing out good vibes for fun lovers. DJs Ace Phonic and Tibza played during the evening with Ace phonic taking over the decks from DJ Fantancy. Ace Phonic played at 7pm and DJ Tibza followed him at 8pm. Lulo Cafe arrived at 9pm and started playing his set right away. He played a two hours set, which left fun lovers asking for more.

Visit

He shared that he would love to come back to Eswatini and play more good music for fun lovers, as his last visit was back in 2019. “I enjoy being here you know. I hope everyone knows the people who organised this event know that they can invite me anytime, I wouldn’t mind because I really enjoy myself out here,” Lulo Cafe said.

He also shared that he felt honoured to have been given an opportunity to come and play at the Deep House Conversations show. “Shadow is my guy from way back. I have been coming here a lot because of him. When he invited me to this concept, I told him that when you talk Deep House, you are talking my language, and I told him that anytime I would be there. I literally cleared up things and told him I’ll be there. It’s an honour, it’s a movement of beautiful music, and this Deep House music has been here for quite some time. It’s great that it’s being pushed in different countries around the Southern African Development Community (SADC) areas. I really enjoyed playing at this show, I’m really honoured,” Lulo Cafe said.

The DJ went on to explain that his set was inspired by the motive of always wanting to play fresh music.

“You know when you go to places that you hardly go to; you need to give people new stuff that they want to hear because they want to hear you play things that are ‘unshazamable’. But as well, you need to take them back to where you’ve been.

During my set I went from the new stuff to the classics because I belong in that era of classics, which made me who I am. I played a beautiful two hours from the new material, to what I’m feeling right now,” Lulo Cafe said.

Lulo further added that he was

DJs Tibza (L) and Ace Phonic (inset) also performed at the show. currently working on a project that is likely to drop in October this year. “I am working on a project called ‘Black Ace’, and it’s the first time I have a conversation about it, I’ve just been working on it. When I started in the industry I was playing very chilled lounge music, that’s what got me to the industry. Eventually I want to get to a place where I will be playing ‘umculo wama grootman’, so Black Ace is literally a definition of where I was at the beginning and where I am right now.

Beautiful

So we going to do a lot of like beautiful chilled house lounge music, I’m still working on it, ideally I want to drop it in October” Lulo Cafe said. The DJ said he was working with SoulFreakah, Que Soul, Griffith Malo and many more other artists on the album ‘Black Ace’. DJ Fantacy came back to play after Lulo Cafe’s set, this is because fun lovers kept asking for more music. After his departure from the stage, fun lovers flooded the back of the stage to ask to take pictures with the DJ. About 300 fun lovers attended the show which ended at 11:30pm.
