Inyatsi Construction Group expands to West Africa
MBABANE – One of Eswatini’s major construction companies, Inyatsi Construction Group, keeps expanding. Having recently announced that it had struck multi-million Emalangeni tenders in Mozambique and Malawi, the construction company has now expanded its operations to West Africa.
Inyatsi Group Investment Portfolio Chief Executive Officer Paul Lwiindi confirmed that the company has now established operations in Ivory Coast.
He said this meant that Inyatsi was now operating in nine countries across the African continent.
He said in Ivory Coast, the company’s operations were in Korhogo and Katiola.
Korhogo is a city in northern Ivory Coast and is regarded as one of that country’s cultural hubs, with a population of over 225 000.
Katiola, meanwhile, is a town in central Ivory Coast and, according to that country’s government’s figures, has a population of around 162 000.
“Inyatsi Construction Group has been awarded work to the value of over E65 million and is in negotiations with other organisations to add to that tally. The work that the company has currently been awarded is allowing them to empower people in the communities they are in as they are in the process of hiring over 100 employees from Côte d’Ivoire,” Lwiindi said.
He said as is the company’s culture, they had already started to positively influence the community they were in through an initiative to refurbish teachers’ colleges to ensure a better training environment for those tasked with equipping the leaders of tomorrow.
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
“We strongly believe that our Corporate Social Responsibility is as important as any other facet of our business,” he said.
He said the company’s growing footprint on the African continent continued to grow Eswatini’s regional and global reputation and showcased the skills and capacity of emaSwati.
Lwiindi paid special recognition to Inyatsi Group Chairman Michelo Shakantu, who, through his tireless work, and that of his team, continued to break barriers.
He said this helped the group to continue to deliver on its vision to become Africa’s leading integrated business partner.
Last month, Inyatsi was awarded a E286.7 million worth tender in Mozambique for the upgrading of a nine-kilometre road known as the N4 MDC Section 17: Tchumene Interchange to Matola Mall.
The Tchumene Interchange links the EN4 motorway from South Africa to the Maputo Ring Road - a 70 kilometres road connecting the municipalities of Maputo and Matola and the district of Marracuene.
An amount of US$355 million (about E6 billion) was reportedly spent on building the Ring Road.
The scope of the project consists of the construction of additional lanes, service roads and railway bridge widening.
It also includes earthworks, pavement layers, asphalt surfacing, drainage works, culverts and ancillary road works.
In Malawi, Inyatsi has reportedly won a project to build a laboratory facility, which is a project under the National Oil Company of Malawi.
The project is said to include the construction of a laboratory, cafeteria and change rooms at Mzuzu deport on the outskirts of Malawi’s capital, Lilongwe.
