Eswatini Auctioneers rakes in over E1.8m
TSHANENI ± A total of 197 cattle were sold at IYSIS auction yesterday, as farmers came in numbers to place bids on four different breeds of cattle. 'uly instructed by Royal Eswatini Sugar Corporation (RES),Eswatini Auctioneers (Pty) Ltd successfully sold a total of 197 cattle yesterday for over E1.8 million.
The auction was held at Inyoni Yaseswatini Ir rigation Scheme (IYSIS) at Tshaneni.
Leading the auction was Sakhile Nd]imand]e from Eswatini Auctioneers (Pty) Ltd.
He said: “It was a buyer’s auction. I am of the view that the prices were good and most buyers took home something. One also noted that there is currently a great demand for breeding cattle.” %uyers were presented with options and variety some were sold as block sale such as Lot 1 to 8, consisted of 10 Nguni or %rangus 21 months old heifers.
There was also about six block sale of heifers, both Nguni and %rangus, which started at a re serve price of E36 000.
The highest sold was Lot 2, which was a block sale of 10 Nguni 21 months old heifers at E119 000 as they were reserved at E72 000.
%rangus Heifers (21 months old) was reserved at E80 000 but sold for E117 000.
%uyers had a tough time as there was a variety of breed and class. Commenting on the auction, RES Public Relations Officer Sifiso Nyembe said: “The auction attendance was impressive. The main aim of the auction was to provide eTual opportunities for farmers to succeed in the business. We sold all of 197 animals. The enthu siasm was encouraging and the numbers were far higher than we had expected. It was a successful auction. The farmers appreciated the diversity of the animals on offer.”
