‘TRUE STORY’

Kevin Hart and Wesley Snipes star in this twisty crime thriller executive produced by Hart and Eric Newman (‘Narcos’). A tour stop in Kid’s hometown of Philadelph­ia becomes a matter of life and death for one of the world’s most famous comedians. Despite the title itself suggesting that the series is based on real events, True Story is a work of fiction, but there are some elements of the story that are accurate to Kevin Hart’s real life.

‘DO REVENGE’

Do Revenge is a 2022 American coming-of-age black comedy film directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who co-wrote the screenplay alongside Celeste Ballard. It stars Camila Mendes, Maya Hawke, Austin Abrams, Rish Shah, and Sarah Michelle Gellar. Drea Torres and Eleanor Levetan are soon-to-be high school seniors at Rosehill Country Day High School in Miami, Florida. Drea, who attends Rosehill on scholarshi­p, is made a social outcast when her boyfriend, Max, anonymousl­y releases an inappropri­ate video of her. Eleanor, a new student at Rosehill, is similarly cast out after a false rumor spreads that she held down and forcibly kissed another student, Carissa Jones. The two meet when Eleanor attend a tennis camp over the summer that Drea is working at over the break.

‘STOWAWAY’

A three-person crew on a mission to Mars faces an impossible choice when an unplanned passenger jeopardise­s the lives of everyone on board. Stowaway is a science fiction thriller drama film directed by Joe Penna, who co-wrote the screenplay with Ryan Morrison. The film stars Anna Kendrick, Daniel Dae Kim, Shamier Anderson, and Toni Collett.

‘MAID’

After fleeing an abusive relationsh­ip, a young mother finds a job cleaning houses as she fights to provide for her child and build them a better future. ‘Maid’ is based on the true story of author Stephanie Land. Stars Margaret Qualley alongside her real-life mother Andie MacDowell, among other notable names. It a sad, vibrant yet utterly vivacious portrayal. It could be true that ‘Maid’ just tries to do too much in its depiction of how the legal and government systems fail people, especially young mothers, struggling below the poverty line.
