’Downs sign Moroccan
PRETORIA - Mamelodi Sundowns have announced the signing of Moroccan Abdelmounaim Boutouil with only a few hours to go before the transfer window deadline at midnight. Boutouil becomes the first Moroccan player to play in the PSL. The 24-year-old has penned a threeyear deal, with an option to extend the contract a further two years. Boutouil, who is a former Raja Casablanca player, he is the Brazilians’ sixth signing of the current campaign.
BARCELONA - Shakira, the global music superstar, spoke at length of the sacrifices she made for Barcelona star Gerard Pique before their relationship split.
Shakira suggested Pique didn’t put enough effort into their longterm relationship as she cared for their two children while he played football. She said she wasn’t able to live the ‘nomadic’life she enjoyed before they met.
“As a soccer player, he wanted to play football and to win titles and I had to support him,” Shakira told Elle. “I mean, one of the two of us had to make a sacrifice, right? Either he would stop his contract with Barcelona and move to the US with me, where my career is, or I would have to do that instead.
“One of the two had to make that effort and that sacrifice. And I did it. I put my career in second gear and I came to Spain, to support him so he could play football and win title. And it was a sacrifice of love. Thanks to that, my kids were able to have a present mum, and I have this amazing bond with them that is unbreakable and that sustains us. You know, that is it. That’s all I can say.”
The Colombian mega-star is preparing to release her first album in five years. Shakira hinted that her hit single ‘Te Felicito’was written about her breakup with Barcelona defender Gerard Pique.
During an interview with Elle, it was posed that Shakira’s 2022 song ‘Te Felicito’may have been about her much-publicised split from Pique. The lyrics, translated to English, are: “To make you whole. I broke myself in pieces. I was warned, but I didn’t take heed. Don’t tell me you’re sorry.
“I know you well and I know you’re lying. I can only say that either consciously or subconsciously, everything I feel, everything I go through is reflected in the lyrics I write, in the videos I make. When the glove fits, it fits. Like I said before, my music is that channel,” the singer said.
