EDITOR’S CORNER!

- ... WITH PHUMZILE NDLOVU

S Olast week I felt like going out to dance for a change, not to work. Yes I can do that from time to time, just to unwind and as we head towards festive season.

In fact with the easing of the pandemic restrictions, events are picking up at an alarming speed; even I can’t keep up, I’m not complaining I’m grateful. The last two years were just too much, we need to have fun after what we went through globally.

My nieces and nephew begged me for weeks to come with me to BK Lodge to attend the Felo Lee Tee show. They tried to convince me that they would behave; they even played his songs in the car to prove to me how big he was in the entertainment industry.

So I tricked them and went to work and never came back, otherwise I wouldn’t have heard the end of it. What a show, as cold as it was, I felt warm after dancing for a while with my two left feet.

When Nombuso and I arrived at the venue DJ Mbo was on the decks already, I love old school RnB so I felt very welcomed.

But it was the Trend Twins who stole the show for me, hands down, wow those ladies did an excellent job, I was really impressed. I never sat down during their one hour set; I danced until they left the stage.

They have great stage presence, at some point they left the turntables to dance for a few minutes, which made it more interesting. The show was a success overall, to say I was tired the next day is an understatement.

Mxolisi covered the Major League show at Solanis Shisanyama, judging by the pictures we published, one can tell it was lit, if anything I wish I went there too, next time definitely God willingly. We also covered the Luju cook-off competition this week, the interesting part for us as entertainment was seeing King Terry make it to the top three.

I may not have had the chance to taste his food yet, as I didn’t attend the competition, but I have seen him on stage. The first time I saw him perform, was at the MTN Bushfire in May this year.

I was in the media room with other journalists, and I heard the beats and assumed a US rapper was on stage. I went to check out who was on stage dishing out an electrifying performance, wow I was really impressed. To say he’s talented is an understatement, if he’s that good in the kitchen as well; I would definitely buy his food.

As we build up to the Luju Food And Lifestyle Festival next week Friday, this week interviewed five artists, who will grace the main stage at the festival.

They shared with Gcwala what we can look forward to and told us more about themselves.

We also spoke to DJ M’ay a Deep House fanatic in our DJ’s corner, who gave us a breakdown about the craft and the challenges in the industry.

Enjoy our collage of a love story on page seven to eight, and hand over page nine to the little ones to colour in and draw as you enjoy your Saturday.

Remember; if it costs you your peace, it’s too expensive.

Have a blessed week!
