Lakay re-joins Cape Town City from Sundowns

JOHANNESBU­RG – Orlando pirates have announced the return of Kermit Erasmus on Friday. This comes after the transfer window closed on Thursday at midnight.

Pirates have confirmed Erasmus on a two-year deal. Romeo, as he is affectiona­tely known, returns to the club having left to join French outfit Stade Rennais back in 2016.

CAPE TOWN – Cape Town City FC on Thursday announced the signing of Lyle Lakay on a season-long loan deal from Mamelodi Sundowns.

Lakay joined Sundowns in 2018

The forward joins the Buccaneers having recently been cleared by Sundowns, and becomes the sixth senior signing of the season.

Goals

Erasmus played 80 games for the Sea Robbers, scoring 21 goals, which is the most goals in his career for a club, with 14 assists.

On Thursday, Orlando Pirates officially announced the signing from the Citizens, turning out 158 times for the Brazilians and finding the net 14 times.

In last season’s PSL campaign, Lakay appeared in 21 games for Sundowns and scored one goal.

Before joining Sundowns in of talented Ndabayithe­thwa Ndlondlo on a three-year deal. The 27 year old joins the Buccaneers on a three-year deal for an undisclose­d fee from Marumo Gallants. On becoming a Buccaneer once more, Erasmus said, “It’s good to be back!”

Pirates also confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Sipho Chaine. The 25-year-old signed from Chippa United on a threeyear deal. 2018, the now 31-year-old player made 28 league appearance­s in total at Cape Town City, scoring two goals and providing four assists in a single season after joining from now defunct Bloemfonte­in Celtic.
