M– “Our supporters are concerned about the ‘Big 3’ tag.”

This was said by Moneni Pirates Marketing Manager Sibusiso Nkambule when questioned about their poor voting in the E2 million 2022 MoMo Cup, yet they are one of the teams that had a huge following in the country. With eight days left before the voting process is closed the ‘Sea Robbers’ of Moneni were on position 13 on the voting chart with 273 votes yesterday by close of business. They had 243 before that and perched on 11th.

Nkambule said they would turn the corner very soon as they had addressed the issues that were in the club, one of them being its registration due to the CAF Club Licensing requirements.

“The supporters were concerned that they would vote yet the team would not be playing, we have since sorted that out and they must rest assured that the team is busy with registration. The supporters’ biggest concern however, was why they were not included in the big clubs tag, as they are one of the big four in Eswatini football,” Nkambule said.

He said the supporters failed to understand the criteria used when selecting the ‘Big Three’ (Mbabane Highlanders, Mbabane Swallows and Manzini Wanderers), so they felt they would not vote especially because they concluded the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) took them for granted. He, however, urged the entire football community to vote for the clubs as this would not only help the sponsor, but their teams as well.

“Supporters should desist from football politics, but do what is good for their teams. Clubs should not suffer financially when supporters are there. My plea to them is to vote for their clubs,” he said.
