Enough is enough

-

Madam,

Fear feasts on us like it's the easiest thing to do, the skyrocketing rates of partners killing their lovers is a thing of concern; how do we end this enemy? Why is it suddenly so difficult for people to just love one another? How can a person evolve from loving you to the moon and back then undoubtedly switch to the extreme extent of ending your life?

There is never an excuse to hurting anyone, especially the one you claim to love. We as a society have normalised giving flimsy excuses upon the issue of relationships suffering due to abuse. ‘He wouldn't have killed her if she didn't cheat!’ That's the dumbest excuse anyone can ever give! Choices, we all have choices; if it no longer serve the initial purpose, walk away there is absolutely no justification for taking one’s life because of love.

Unfortunately it has become a norm being in relationships with strangers. We are in love with people with gaping wounds of their upbringing.

We dating people who grew up witnessing their parents bashing each other, creating an impression to them of abuse being a solution to anything. You hear a person say ‘I do not feel loved if he doesn't beat me or yell at me.’ What has become of us, how did we get here. We love people who have no idea of the meaning of the word love hence we constantly have to prove our worth to soothe their unquenchable egos.

It is up to us, to stand up and fight. enough is enough! It takes us as a nation to correct this error, for us and the next coming generations. Violence is never the option, United we can.
