MBABANE – The best male players in the Mbabane PnP Under-15 Kick-Off/EFA Development Programme will represent Mbabane in the tournament’s National Championships.

After the preliminary stage ended yesterday throughout the country, it will now be about who are the best nationally as every store will submit their best squads in the tournament played by both boys and girls. The Mbabane Pick Team was finalised yesterday after a few games including one between Hurricane and Dark City. It turned out Mbabane Swallows juniors dominate the Mbabane Pick Team for the PnP/ Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Under-15 National Championships.

This tournament is sponsored by the Pick n Pay (PnP) retail stores to the tune of E2.4 million for the development of the sport across the country, in partnership with EFA. This sponsorship will spread for a period of three years and each edition taking over E800 000. It started about 10 weeks ago and the first phase came to an end yesterday in all the regions of the country. The last game in the Mbabane PnP branch played at the Prince of Wales Sports Ground was between Hurricane and Dark City, which saw the latter winning 2-1.

This game was watched by Eswatini Football Coaches Association (EFCA) Secretary General (SG) Musa Mamba and former elite league players like Mbabane Highlanders’ Nana ‘Take me home’ Dlamini and Mbabane Swallows midfield maestro Sandile Mdlovu. The legends later played an international social team match against a Mozambican side.

The Mbabane Pick Team selector Trevor Ginindza said they were done with the selection, but there were few logistics to be scrutinised before the final squad. He, however, revealed that the squad was dominated by players from Swallows.
