Ncobile, ‘Bhubesi’ for W. Cup

-

MBABANE – It was no train smash for Eswatini to pull out of the Blackball World Championships 2022 in the eleventh hour.

Due to lack of funds, Eswatini Cue Sports Association (ECSA) announced three days ago that they had been forced to cancel their participation in the world championships which are ongoing in Morocco. They had aimed at sending the senior men and ladies’ national teams. However, that proved impossible as potential sponsors could not confirm on time.

“We are grateful that we still had two of the national stars making it to Morocco and that’s our ladies’ captain Ncobile Dlamini and men’s squad player Natho ‘Bhubesi’ Sihlongonyane,” ECSA President

Muntu Dlamini excitedly said.

He said the two raised their own funds while he only assisted with the participation fees. “They are both very good players and will gain a lot of exposure and experience from this world stage without a doubt. The games are starting today (yesterday) but I’ll give updates when they play and how they did,” Dlamini said.

CANCELLATION

Meanwhile, ECSA Secretary Mbongeni ‘Mdlikiza’ Gamedze had announced the cancellation of the Morocco trip alongside another one to Witbank in South Africa (SA). He said they would now attend other competitions scheduled for SA after failing to raise funds to play in the Morocco-hosted World Cup. ECSA needed about E200 000 to send both squads to the games.
