M– Women activists from different organisations yesterday filled Court F of the High Court to observe the proceedings in the bail application of the lawyer who is accused of raping and impregnating his children.

Among those present in court were mothers of some of the children who were allegedly sexually abused by the attorney. Also present were the incarcerated lawyer’s family members, who occupied a bench in front of the activists.

The representatives of the different civic organisations were carrying placards, with different messages condemning child abuse and calling for the non- release of the lawyer.

When Judge Zonke Magagula, who is presiding over the matter, entered the courtroom he had to warn them to desist from raising the placards while the court was in progress.

“Please desist from raising the placards you are carrying while the court is in progress. The court makes decisions based on the law not emotion or public opinion,” said Judge Magagula.

The judge also warned them not to take pictures or videos inside the courtroom or else they would be escorted out.

Some members of the public left the High Court dejected after they were informed that the lawyer would not be brought to court for the hearing of the bail application

Several women are reportedly coming out of the closet to report their horrific experiences allegedly at the hands of the attorney.

According to the investigator of the cases, Inspector Millicent Dlamini, more charges were likely to be added against the lawyer.

atrocities

“After he was arrested, we have had an influx of people who have come out to report some of the atrocities that he has done in the community. I can confidently state that we are investigating a number of other offences that link him to other rape allegations and that we shall therefore be adding new charges to the ones we already have,” submitted the investigator.

She informed the court that the charges were not the same anymore and the possibility of them being amended and added was high, especially now that they (police) were also receiving calls informing them about the lawyer’s alleged criminal activities.

The lawyer is alleged to have impregnated his children and forced them to take abortion tablets. Two of the minors and his helper allegedly gave birth allegedly to his children.

It is alleged that one of the children fell pregnant six times and committed six abortions at the instance of the lawyer. One of his daughters, his niece and

PPEAK – Residents and ratepayers were left puzzled when suspended police officer Sergeant Busta Vilakati did not flee from the hall after tear gas was fired.

His fellow residents and ratepayers bolted out coughing, with some struggling to breathe due to the smoke, but Vilakati remained inside, waiting for the mayor or the chief executive officer (CEO) as per plan.

crimes

“This is just only a tip of the iceberg as there are more crimes that are surfacing in the wake of the applicant’s (lawyer) incarceration. We are further investigating some other allegations which have since arisen as the result of the applicant being arrested and detained by the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS),” submitted the investigator.

She contended that his release from custody would undermine the proper function of the criminal directly onto the tear gas canister. He said this neutralised the gas immediately.

Police officers quickly entered the hall and handcuffed Vilakati. “I already had it planned,” he said.

He said he knew that police officers would use tear gas because they gave the residents five minutes to vacate the hall.

He said this was a signal that they would use some forceful means to remove the residents, who had sat inside the hall waiting for officials.

He said the town council should openly condemn the action by the police.

justice.

Inspector Dlamini, who is based at the Tshaneni Police Station, further submitted that the evidence against the applicant was overwhelming.

“I submit therefore that the acts perpetrated by the applicant to his own flesh and blood are synonymous with that of a sex pest,” contended Inspector Dlamini.

The investigator went on to tell the court that she had strong and compelling evidence against the applicant which pointed to him as the one who committed the offences he was charged with.

She argued that bare denial would not suffice, as the evidence directly pointed to the applicant as the one who allegedly committed these despicable atrocities to his own minor children, who expected to be protected by their father.

She further brought it to the attention of the court that, the applicant did not only sexually molest his own children but also his maid who was working in his house.

“The complainants have no reason to be just spiteful against the applicant and it has taken a lot of courage for them to come out in the clear about the heinous acts committed to them. At the time of commission of the offences they were still minors,” she argued.

She also brought it to the attention of the court that the lawyer is the father to some of the complainants and he allegedly breached the relationship of trust to them.

Inspector Dlamini also dismissed the allegation by the lawyer that the complainants were vexatious as the evidence allegedly showed that he was the one who committed these shrewd criminal acts.
