EDITOR’S CORNER!

- ... WITH PHUMZILE NDLOVU

Hnew month of October! Between me and you, it almost felt as if September was just refusing to go away. Like a jilted lover who wants to stay for some reason, when it’s clearly over. I think the fact that I travelled first week of last month made it seem just too long.

So much can happen in just a week, but I think for me, I’m glad the first month of spring is done and dusted, with its interesting highlights. Some low and some high, but once again we thank God for the blessing of life.

October is my second favourite month; well my favourite is obviously my birth month, December. My mum was born on October 19, so it’s the queen’s month in my books.

It’s also the month fashionastas have been looking forward to, as today is the second day of the much celebrated Luju Food & Lifestyle Festival. I can’t wait to see what the designers whip out this year. What with spring upon us, it’s the best time of the year to rock the summer dresses, the traditional, the vintage looks as well as the classy elegant and stylish outfits. I’m bracing myself to feast on the fashion.

I’m sure by now you are also aware that I’m a foodie, so I will be mostly stationed by the food side tasting all the different dishes sampled by other food lovers just like me. I look forward to the long table that we were promised at the launch, so I can also judge in my head who’s the best cook in the land.

Unlike Somizi Mhlongo, who was gracious enough to have an exclusive with us on our lead story for Thursday, I’m actually not the easiest person to cook for. I’m very fussy with my food, I only eat my mum’s food who’s the best chef, better than Jamie Oliver and Siba combined, because mum’s food is always the best. I also eat both my sisters’ food, because all three of us are great cooks, my sister Nonhlanhla can even bake, I can’t to save my life. Then Gugu is not a fan of cooking, but she cooks just like my mum. I hardly buy takeaways because I’m that fussy, with my spices blend ingredients, only from time to time I indulge in fast food. So I’m looking forward to tasting the finalist’s dishes, of Justina and King Terry.

Also look out for the iPraise Gospel Festival also slated for today at Mavuso Trade Centre. Gospel giants will share the stage with Gospel sensation Sinach, of ‘Way Maker’ miracle fame song. I also look forward to seeing Ayanda Ntanzi, my personal favourite is ‘Nasempini’.

Also Nduduzo Matse, Nothando Hlophe, Linda Dlamini and many more will do what they do best, it’s surely going to be a night of worship.

Well, this week we bring you the progamme directors of the muchanticipated festival, which started yesterday. The trio will grace two different stages at the Luju Festival, they will tell us more about the experience and what to look forward to, as we Eat, Sway, Love.

We also speak to DJ Thubillion and he shares about the craft and journey to get him to where he is now.

We never forget the little ones on page seven give them their page and let them be creative with our games. Remember, your story is not over until you win!

Have a blessed week.
