PIGG’S PEAK – Meat is often associated with fun and laughter, but for Mduduzi Mkhaliphi, it marked the end of his life.

Mkhaliphi was allegedly killed by Sihle Matsebula (30) during a fight over meat he is said to have eaten. The incident is said to have happened around Mzimnene under northern Hhohho. Mkhaliphi was originally from Sithobela while Matsebula is from Mzimnene area under Ndzingeni Inkhundla.

It is alleged that on the day of the incident, the men were enjoying some meat near a place known as Ludlawini. After they had enjoyed the meat, they allegedly left the place where the meat was served.

However, along the way, a fight is said to have ensued when one of the men demanded that he wanted his meat back, much to the shock of the other as he had already eaten it.

During the scuffle, Mkhaliphi was fatally assaulted.

Stabbed

Also, a second person, Mduduzi Ndlangamandla, was seriously injured when he was allegedly stabbed with a beer bottle in the nose as well as in one of his eyes.

Ndlangamandla was allegedly stabbed by Matsebula, who was charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH). Matsebula appeared before Magistrate Vusi Thomo, where he was not asked to plead but was advised of his rights to seek legal representation. He was also advised that should he require bail, he would have to apply at the High Court as per the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act.

The Crown counsel also applied that a blood sample be drawn from Matsebula and this was granted. Matsebula was remanded in custody until October 12, 2022.

In 2020, around the same area, a man was stabbed to death when he attacked another with a stick while they were enjoying some bear. The deceased is said to have first kicked a container of alcohol that the men were drinking from.
