‘Suarez’ in final COSAFA U-20 squad

MBABANE – At least four Premier League stars have made the cut in the final squad to represent the country in the COSAFA Under-20 Youth Championsh­ips that get underway tomorrow.

The Council of Southern African Football Associatio­ns (COSAFA) tournament doubles up as qualifiers for the 2023 TOTALEnerg­ies Africa Cup of Nations. Eswatini is the host, with Inyatsi pumping in E2 million to headline the list of sponsors.

The four elite league stars who are part of the 22-member Eswatini squad came from Moneni Pirates and Nsingizini Hotspurs. Some players are from the National First Division (NFD), while a majority of them from regional teams. Mayibongwe ‘Suarez’ Mabuza and Lusito Shongwe are Nsingizini players, while Pirates have Phumlani Shongwe and Sizwe Khumalo.

The Mduduzi ‘Sikhalo’ Nxumalo-led charges are in Group A alongside Mauritius, Zambia and Botswana. Eswatini will kick start their campaign tomorrow
