MBABANE - Fashion, food and entertainm­ent will be the order of the day when the South African (SA), Doek and Jeans Festival grace the kingdom for its debut.

The launch was held yesterday at the Happy Valley Hotel.

The actual event will be held on November 12, this year at the Greyhound Hall, Ezulwini. The festival had been hosted in various places in SA, their objective is to create a safe space for women where they can gather and have fun together, creating a sisterhood. The event has different sections; in the morning there are motivation­al talks, where women are encouraged and motivated to stick through whatever and remind them that they have a shoulder to cry on.

Empowermen­t

“The event is centered on women empowermen­t and generally expecting the space to be dominated by females, and males only making up 10 per cent of the attendees.

“Women hardly get time off for themselves, so this space will be just that for the women of Eswatini,” mentioned the event’s organiser, Amanda Khambule. wthietheva­retnist,tsm, fursoimc laolvlegre­snwreosu,lbdebtweec­eanteAreld­sofoart local and SA artists.

At the launch, Young Zesh and Lyrical Busta were mentioned as artists who will perform during the event.

More artists will be announced in stages right before the actual date of the event.

Also mentioned at the event was that the picnic setting that it was known for, would also be the case even this year.

There will be a kiddie’s corner for all the mums and aunts who would like to bring their children along or have challenges with places where they can keep their children during the event.

Stalls will be allowed at the event where interested small business owners will send an applicatio­n then go through the vetting process.
