MBABANE – Manzini Wanderers forward Fabrice Mopina is currently at loggerheads with his team over contractual issues.

The former Moneni Pirates talisman was noticeably missing in Liweseli’s 2022/23 MTN Premier League opener against rookies Madlenya, which they lost 1-0. A source close to the Mduduzi ‘Sikhalo’ Nxumalo-led side revealed that the player wanted E35 000 signing-on-fee, among other benefits, which the team reportedly declined. The source also stated that the player wanted a monthly salary of not less E6 000.

Meanwhile, the maroon and white hub giants Chairman Mlungisi ‘Mluka’ Ndzinisa said the player was currently training with them, as he considered the offer tabled before him and was even a spectator in the game against Madlenya. “We considered the age factor and decided to offer him a performance-based contract and he told us that we should give him time to think over the contract,” Ndzinisa said.

The chairman said they offered the player a salary of E2 000 and a bonus of E1 000 for a goal scored in all competitions. “This is a fair deal, we are waiting for him to give us the feedback, but he is our player as he is training with us,” he said. On the other hand Mopina said the team did offer him a contract, but did not want to elaborate much on the matter, only saying that once everything was done the media would be informed. “Wanderers indeed offered me a contract but I’m still deciding about it. What I can tell you is that I’m training with the team as we wait to conclude our talks,” Mopina said. On another note Ndzinisa revealed that they had signed former Mbabane Swallows goalkeeper Qiniso Nyamo for the next two seasons.
