It was stated that fees and charges shall be adjusted annually, on April 1, by the inflation rate of the third quarter of the prior year plus one per cent for capital purposes, where it is feasible.
MBABANE – ESWADE has issued an invitation to tender for the construction of three earth dams in three chiefdoms, namely Ndushulweni, Mgambeni and KaPhunga.
Forty households are set to benefit from the Kaphunga earth dam, 20 will benefit under Mgambeni and another 20 under Ndushulweni chiefdom.
Commencement of construction is envisaged to be in March 2023 and completion is estimated to be around September 2023. Different contractors will be engaged to achieve completion of the estimated period.
The Smallholder Market Led Project commenced in 2016 and is funded by the International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD), the Global Environment Facility
“Any portion of a fee or charge that remains unpaid beyond the due (GEF) and the Kingdom of Eswatini.
It is implemented under the auspices of the Eswatini Water Agricultural and Development Enterprise (ESWADE).
“We are cognisant of the vast economic spinoffs that will come with the aforesaid development. This will positively impact the communities from the construction phase till its operation,” said Strategy and Corporate Communications Manager Nkwazi Hlophe.
The goal of the SMLP is to contribute to national poverty reduction while the project objective is to enhance food and nutrition security and incomes among smallholder producer families through diversified agricultural production and market linkages. Hlophe explained that one earth dam had been fully constructed at Ngololweni community under the Sandleni Inkhundla and is valued at E12.5 million.
