It was stated that fees and charges shall be adjusted annually, on April 1, by the inflation rate of the third quarter of the prior year plus one per cent for capital purposes, where it is feasible.

MBABANE – ESWADE has issued an invitation to tender for the constructi­on of three earth dams in three chiefdoms, namely Ndushulwen­i, Mgambeni and KaPhunga.

Forty households are set to benefit from the Kaphunga earth dam, 20 will benefit under Mgambeni and another 20 under Ndushulwen­i chiefdom.

Commenceme­nt of constructi­on is envisaged to be in March 2023 and completion is estimated to be around September 2023. Different contractor­s will be engaged to achieve completion of the estimated period.

The Smallholde­r Market Led Project commenced in 2016 and is funded by the Internatio­nal Fund for Agricultur­e Developmen­t (IFAD), the Global Environmen­t Facility

“Any portion of a fee or charge that remains unpaid beyond the due (GEF) and the Kingdom of Eswatini.

It is implemente­d under the auspices of the Eswatini Water Agricultur­al and Developmen­t Enterprise (ESWADE).

“We are cognisant of the vast economic spinoffs that will come with the aforesaid developmen­t. This will positively impact the communitie­s from the constructi­on phase till its operation,” said Strategy and Corporate Communicat­ions Manager Nkwazi Hlophe.

The goal of the SMLP is to contribute to national poverty reduction while the project objective is to enhance food and nutrition security and incomes among smallholde­r producer families through diversifie­d agricultur­al production and market linkages. Hlophe explained that one earth dam had been fully constructe­d at Ngololweni community under the Sandleni Inkhundla and is valued at E12.5 million.
