MBABANE – “It’s a shame to our football.”

The above statement was made by Mankayane United Director Phumlani Tfwala, who alongside Lozitha United counterpart, Melusi Dlamini, bought a trophy and medals for Louis XIV players.

Louis XIV are the champions of the Manzini Regional Football Association (MRFA) Super League and they will be representing the region in the MTN National First Division (NFD) this season.

Presenting

The duo will be presenting the players and the technical bench of the second - tier of local football rookies today ahead of their maiden game in the NFD against Sisonkhe to be played tomorrow at KaLanga Technical Centre.

“I together with Melusi decided that we must buy a trophy and medals for the boys after the MRFA failed to give the team a prize for their hard work,” Tfwala said.

He also said this was a disgrace, as the team was going to represent the region in the NFD and left empty-handed.

“Our league is one of the strongest in the country. As you will recall that none of our teams were relegated from the National First Division last season, yet we didn’t have sponsors,” he said.

Appealed

He then appealed for sponsors around the hub, saying some of the Regional Football Associations’ Super Leagues were sponsored by companies from the Manzini Region.

Meanwhile, newly-elected MRFA Chairman Vusi Hall appreciated what the two directors were doing, as they were showing that they appreciated the team.

“This is a good thing for football; I really appreciate what they are doing. This shows that we are one big family here in Manzini. Mine is to encourage them,” Hall said.

He also said for the past three seasons the champions were not presented due to the fact that they had no sponsor.
