2022 MoMo Cup finals postponed indefinitely
MEBABANE – It is a dream come true for Eswatini football.
The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) will today launch their partnership with South Africa’s pay-per-view channel SuperSport to be the official broadcaster of the country’s top flight football at Esibayeni Lodge.
The PLE secured the deal early this year and it was confirmed by Chairman Mark Carchael michael in a press briefing, which was held at

ZULWINI – The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) has postponed the 2022 MoMo Cup finals, which were billed for Somhlolo National Stadium on Sunday.
This was revealed by the PLE Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kenneth Makhanya in a media briefing which was held at MTN Eswatini Headquarters in Ezulwini yesterday.
The PLE initially had invited the media to release the MoMo Cup fixtures, which were voted for by the supporters after the play-offs on Sunday. The play-offs were won by Mbabane Highlanders after beating Manzini Sea Birds 5-4 after penalties, to book a place in the semifinals.
The black and white capital giants join Nsingizini Hotspurs, Rangers and Moneni Pirates who qualified for the last four after the voting.
Postponed
The finals were to be played this Sunday after the PLE announced the fixtures, but the ceremony was cut short after the CEO said the finals had been postponed due to reasons beyond his office’s control.
“The PLE announces the postponement of the MoMo Cup finals from Sunday October 30, 2022 to Sunday November 6, 2022,” Makhanya opened his remarks.

Makhanya, on behalf of the football governing body, sincerely apologised to the sponsor, the football fans and supporters as well as the clubs and stakeholders for the unfortunate decision.

Makhanya, announced the premiere of the PLE SuperSport show, which begins today and the first show to last half an hour would be on screen at 5pm on SuperSport GOtv Select 2, Channel 32.
Article 15 (1) of the 2022MoMo Challenge Cup Rules and Regulations states that for the 2022 edition, the sponsor, MTN FinTech, Eswatini will keep 100 per cent of the televoting revenue, but guaranteed E300 000 for the PLE/SuperSport show.
He further requested all the fans and supporters to continue voting for the fixture they wanted to see on the big day.
On another note, the CEO said after the postponement of the cup games, the MTN Premier League games would be played on Sunday.
The most voted fixture by the time this report was compiled was that of a Shiselweni derby between Rangers and Nsingizini Hotspurs with 3 026 votes.
