We cannot avoid change - Bishop Mbingo

MBABANE – 3resident of the (swatini &oalition of &hurches and Minis tries (&&M , Musa Mbingo has said that the country of (swatini cannot avoid change.

SpeaNing to (swatini 1ews, Mbingo said it was time that the authoritie­s of the country, government and political formations, humble themselves and settle down for a dialogue and negotiate on the direction the country should taNe.

“The time has come and change cannot be wished away by anyone and as a church body, we would liNe to plead with everyone concerned to consider using peace ful ways on how to handle this conflict,” Mbingo explained.

Bishop Mbingo pointed out that the country of (swatini could not afford to go into a civil war.

“We all have different views on how to solve the current con flict and the only solution is to have all the relevant formations, government and authoritie­s to set tle on a round table and nego tiate for the betterment of the future of all emaS wati,” Bishop Mbingo said.

SOLUTION

)urthermore, Bishop Mbingo stated that using violent means will never be a solution to the political situation in the country at the moment.

Bishop Mbingo mourned the death of all emaSwati who lost their lives during the political unrest, last year June July.

The bishop also said that the church was also mourning the loss of lives in the security forces of the country.

Meanwhile, Bishop Mbingo disclosed that there was a need for an extensive civic educa tion on all emaSwati on the subject of democ racy.

The bishop pointed out that it would be a mis taNe to lead emaSwati to a democracy they did not Nnow.

“There is an extensive need for the people of (swatini to be capacitate­d on the subject of democracy before we even thinN about di alogue.

“,f emaSwati can be called to a di alogue now they would be blanN on what to talN about and some of them would raise irrelevant issues. (maS wati need to be capacitate­d on the subject of systems of gov ernance, pro demo cratic change and then they would be armed for a meaningful di alogue,” said Bishop Mbingo. The presi dent of (&&M stated that there should be no short cut when tacNling the issue of pro demo cratic change now because the future of the country was not something that should be taNen lightly.
