... speak to doctor or open case - Ted Reilly

-

E– Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Big Game Parks (BGP) has advised the relatives of the deceased, Sanele Vilakati to engage the doctor and get his opinion.

“If they are not satisfied with the independent opinion of the doctor, then they are free to report and engage the Royal Eswatini Police Service for further investigations of this matter,” Reilly advised.

Worth noting is that human rights defenders have condemned what they have described as the extrajudicial killings of suspected poachers but the main players in the Eswatini game conservation industry are adamant that their stringent anti-poaching tactics are necessary to protect the country’s wildlife from wouldbe poachers.

Human rights defenders on the other hand believe that the right to life cannot be sacrificed at the altar of game protection.

The government and the justice system seem to be on the side of the game conservation industry, human rights defenders say.

Most poachers are found in Central and Southern Africa and South and Southeast Asia.

Poaching

However, most experts agree that Zimbabwe is the country with the biggest poaching problem out of all the countries in the world. The next country where most of the world’s poaching happens is Kenya.

Deputy Police Information and Communication Officer, Inspector Nosipho Mnguni has said that it was not true that the police were not assisting the Vilakati family.

“Big Bend station commander told the Vilakati family that he will arrange a date with the owners of the farm where the family would be taken to the incident scene, however, they were advised to ask for the assistance of the deceased’s friend in locating the actual place where he died, so they can perform the ritual,’’ she said.
