Dale Masile wins 1st LOL Golf title
MBABANE – Dale Masile celebrated his first golf championship in the Manzini Golf Club Leg of Lamb Golf Tournament played last Friday.
Masilela dethroned twotime champion Robert Mgcinah who reigned supreme for the past two weeks. The club tournament was played in the absence of the Dups Herbal Leg of Lamb (LOL), which is expected to resume after the confirmation of the annual sponosrship.
Last Friday afternoon’s thundershowers could not wash away the golf tournament played at the Manzini Golf Course, where Masilela managed to top the charts with a maximum 20 points from the nine-hole stableford golf format play. John Fakudze closely challenged Masilela and settled for the runner-up position after scoring 18 points. Captain Wakie Lawrence and Ben Simelane played to a tie of 17 points count back (c/b) but were placed third and fourth respectively. The captain commended the golfers who participated as well as the membership who contributed to the meaty prizes that were awarded to the winners.
“The Manzini Golf Club members played their inhouse leg of lamb golf tournament with a field of 22 golfers and it was a great success. We are still engaging in talks with Dups, our main sponsor; because there are some documents we need to sign before we resume the competition. Congratulations to Dale for winning the championship and all thanks to the golfers who participated,” Lawrence said.
