MBABANE - A resident of Mangwaneni has related how he was humiliated in front of his family when he was assaulted by two men.

Mbuso Shongwe (32) narrated before court how he was assaulted with fists and kicked all over his body by two men who were brothers, Wandile (23) and Sifiso (28) Msibi of Mangwaneni.

The accused persons appeared before MbabenNational Court President Two Minutes Shongwe after being charged with the offence of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH). The complainant, Mbuso, told the court that the duo joined hands in beating him up for an offence he did not know about.

According to the complainant, the accused persons accused him of being rude and arrogant while assaulting him. He said he had tried to compose himself by not fighting back, although he was drunk.

Mother

Mbuso further submitted that the mother of the duo also pushed her sons to beat him up but not to inflict injuries in the process. He said he was surprised by the woman’s actions, as he was expecting her to reprimand her sons. He said the two followed him from the drinking spree to his rented flat, where they continued to assault him in front of his children and tenant’s wife.

He said he was beaten to the extent that he felt blind and had to rush to hospital before proceeding to report the matter to the police. He also stated before court that he was called names by the duo.

When the charge sheet was read, the accused persons pleaded guilty as charged. Sifiso, the second accused, told the court that it was true that he assaulted the complainant in self-defense, since he was attacked first by the complainant. The duo was sentenced to seven months imprisonment with an option to pay fine of E700.
