MBABANE - Cheshire Homes has donated a wheelchair to a boy with disability.
This was after the Times of Eswatini published the plight and desperation of a mother, Sthembile Motsa of Mhlambanyatsi, whose child had a disability that required a wheelchair.
Cheshire Homes has promptly responded by donating a wheelchair for the child.
Motsa, who is unemployed, came to the Times of Eswatini to plead for public empathy for the wheelchair.
Cheshire Homes Director Khabo Dlamini said yesterday that the organisation was touched by the story and being fully mindful of their mandate, made the decision to donate the wheelchair.

“Our mandate as an organisation is to provide comprehensive rehabilitation to both young and old persons with disabilities; which includes providing assistive devices to those that are in need,” said Dlamini.
Dlamini further mentioned that donating the wheelchair meant improving the quality of life for both son and mother.
“The son will be able to freely move around like other kids while the mother focuses on other things that can improve their lives,” Dlamini said.
Cheshire Homes director then pleaded with emaSwati and the people of Mhlambanyatsi to assist and support the family in whichever way they could.
She also urged the father of the child to try and work out his personal challenges with his family so they could overcome them together.
Dlamini mentioned that the organisation was able to assist because of the support of emaSwati in the many years of the organisation’s existence. She said such support included the participation of emaSwati in their annual fundraising walk hosted at Malolotja Nature Reserve. She mentioned that, the annual fundraising walk would resume this year as it had been hindered by the COVID-19 pandemic for the past two years.
