- BY MACHAWE FAKUDZE

MBABANE - MTN Premier League rookies Nsingizini Hotspurs, will come out with guns blazing when they face capital city giants Mbabane Highlanders at their backyard later today. Insingizi yezulu who were crowned the champions of the 2022 inaugural MoMo Cup late last year, started the season with a bang, but faded mid-way through the first round. The Gerald Phi charges are yet to register a win in the new year and will come to this game with one thing in their minds to end their winless curse and with revenge mentality as Inkunzi emnyama gored them 1-0 in the first round. Currently perched on position five on the table just a point below Highlanders, the rookies will be looking to get the better of the experienced and richly assembled side to dethrone them from position four.

The Shiselweni-based side will be looking at enterprising national team Under-23 player Thubelihle Mavuso and national Under-20 star Mayibongwe ‘Suarez’ Mabuza to spearhead the rookies in search of the first maximum points in the second round. They have also added new faces in former Zambian side Red Arrows Tanaka Chivahara and former Tambakulu Callies player Neliso Myeni, which Coach Gerald Phiri could unleash in today’s game.

The rookies are facing a side full of stars and international players, who are full of confidence after collecting four points out of a possible six from security forces teams. They collected maximum points from defending champions Royal Leopard, who they beat 3-2 and a point from Young Buffaloes last week.

Their new coach in South African-born Solly Luvhengo will be spoilt for choice as they have added former national team Sihlangu defender Mandla “Mshana’ Palma, former Manzini Wanderers striker Fabrice Mopina, as well as South African-born goalkeeper Bongani Manavhela from TTM. The capital city giants cannot afford to lose against the rookies as they want to keep their eyes on the log leaders Green Mamba, who they trail by six points.
