- BY ASHMOND NZIMA

EZULWINI – Exciting moment for golfers.

The celebrated MTN Monthly Masters golf tournament will now be spread across the country. MTN Eswatini Brand, Communications and Sponsorship Manager Landokuhle Dlamini announced plans to stage the monthly tournament at different venues to bring on board golfers all over the country. Dlamini was speaking during the quarterly media engagement session at the MTN Mahlalekhukhwini House in Ezulwini yesterday. Instead of being concentrated in Mbabane, it will now also be staged in Nkonyeni, Manzini and Mananga.

“We’ve revamped the Monthly Masters, so that it can be more inclusive. The champs of champs will be staged at Nkonyeni. We’ll avail more details during the launch.

“If there were golf course in Shiselweni, we were also going to take it there. However, golfers from Shiselweni can go to Nkonyeni, which is the nearest course,” she said.

Regarding one of the events sponsored by the company, the MTN Khemani Cycle Classic, Dlamini announced plans of ensuring that more cyclists enjoyed using the Mobile Money (MoMo) platform, as most of them had already embraced it in their businesses.

Meanwhile, MTN Eswatini is also the sponsor of the Premier League and National First Division. In the past year, the partnership was stretched for another three years. The new sponsorship comes with certain terms that will ensure a return on investment. This includes selling match tickets through the MoMo digital platform.

In the past, MTN Eswatini also used to sponsor basketball, but the funding ended due to reason beyond the giant mobile telecommunications’ company’s control.
