Sphamandla signs for Callies

MBABANE - They mean business.

Former Mbabane Swallows and Manzini Wanderers skilful attacking player Sphamandla Dhlamini has signed for Lubombo-based side Tambankulu Callies.

The player was expected to lineup to make his debut yesterday afternoon in the MTN Premier League game for his new team against Green Mamba at Tambankulu Stadium.

Confirming the player was Tambankulu Callies’ Chief Executive Officer Sibusiso Mnotfo Dlamini, who said they were happy to have signed Dhlamini who comes with plenty of experience.

“Sphamandla has signed a short six-month-contract with the team and we believe that he will help us going forward.

“The league is now in the second round which is proving to be very tough. As a club, we needed to have a player of Sphamandla calibre to help the team,” he said.

The CEO went on to say the player had been in the club since last week.

“The player has been working hard at training and he comes in without any injuries.

“He has played for the biggest teams in the country and we hope his time at the club will also help and motivate some of the youngsters that we have,” Dlamini said.

Teams were expected to continue signing more players, with the EFA having extended the 2022/23 second window registrati­on period.

Originally, it was set to close this past Friday.

It has since been stretched to February 17, 2023 (this Friday).

The South African player has had short stints with Mbabane Swallows but was not retained in the 2020/21 season together with Vusumuzi Zungu and Paito Dube and later joined hub giants Manzini Wanderers, where he also had a short spell.
