WHAT SOME LOCAL POLITICAL PARTIES HAD TO SAY:

-

The proscribed People’s United Democratic Movement ( PUDEMO) Secretary General, Wandile Dludlu

said as an organisation with its allies for democracy, welcome the resolution that were taken in the European Parliament.

He said as an organisation, they call for total isolation of the ruling regime, through smart targeted sanctions. He said this was because the ruling regime has allegedly murdered and injured dozens of emaSwati. He said some of those who were injured suffered permanent disabilities and on top that, it allegedly arrested not only the two pro- democracy MPs, but dozens of protesters in the last 24 months.

Secretary General of the Swazis First Democratic Front ( SFDF), Gift Dlamini

said as an organisation, they applaud the European Parliament for the resolution on the situation of human rights defenders in Eswatini, notably the murder of Thulani Maseko ( 2023/ 2551( RSP). Consequentially, he said SFDF calls upon the United States of America ( USA) and all other democracy loving countries to follow suit. He said the support they give to Eswatini was not benefitting the ordinary person, but a certain faction.

He said as the mass democratic movement, they remain committed to the MSF and Political Party Assembly ( PPA) five- point plan and the Ebundu Declaration, where they committed to an all- inclusive dialogue first before any other activity.

Swaziland Liberation Movement ( SWALIMO) Spokesperson Thantaza Silolo

said they salute the long awaited position by the European Parliament for committing to uphold drastic steps against the abusive and treacherous Tinkhundla regime. He said the regime had allegedly trampled on people’s freedoms and human rights. He said the new position by the European Parliament came as a breather to them. He added that it came even when the King was preparing to open Parliament. Thereafter, he said they pray that the European Parliament ensures that their decisions would be made practical to safeguard a speedy transition into democracy for the people of Eswatini.
