MBABANE – Swim Lab and Wave Aquatics were among clubs with swimmers who whirled to the top during the latest swimming gala this past weekend.

Also leaving a mark were swimmers from Sharks and Splash Swimming clubs.

Eswatini Swimming Association (ESA) Association (ESA) Secretary General (SG) Nozipho Mahlalela was impressed with the swimmers’ competiveness. She was reacting to Saturday’s festivities in the ESA Age Group Gala held over the weekend at Enjabulweni School.

“The ESA gala went very, well. It was encouraging to see our swimmers from the Simunye/Mhlume Sugar belt performing so well. The gala saw 201 individual entries for both Friday and Saturday and there were a lot of medals that were won by our aspiring swimmers,” she said.

The SG also congratulated the winners and encouraged those who did not win to continue working hard.

Congratulations

“Congratulations to all the winners and swimmers. Everyone swam very well. It was exciting to see more swimmers qualifying for the nationals. This year’s nationals scheduled for February 28- March 4 are going to be extremely exciting, as the competition among our swimmers is tight.

“A very special thank you goes out to our very supportive parents, who always come out in their numbers to cheer on our swimmers,” Mahlalela said.

The SG further thanked the public for coming to the event in large numbers. “I would like to thank the public who come in their big numbers to witness swimmers displaying pure talent.

The event was also the last opportunity for swimmers to qualify for the ESA Nationals to be held at

Enjabulweni School,” she said.

The Eswatini Swimming Association (ESA) recently partnered with Royal Eswatini Sugar (RES) Corporation to impart swimming knowledge and basic water safety skills to seven government schools. The two entities signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) over a week ago.
