‘ Cease every available opportunity’
BY VUMILE MAVIMBELA
Peter Drucker’s quotes says. “Knowledge has to be improved, challenged, and increased constantly, or it vanishes” Today we caught up with Owethu Mthethwa, who is studying Information Technology(IT) at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, she shares her journey of studying and having a side hustle.
“Completing school is the ultimate goal for me since this world is no balance I may say, I think one needs to grasp every little opportunity, for now the most opportunity at hand for me is studying, yes I do have a side hustle, but for a firm backup I need that qualification, but most importantly, I want to make my father proud, I don’t want his efforts to go in vain also be an example to my younger siblings.
“One of the obvious reasonsI decided to continue studying is because it will provide me with new skills that can make me manage my business better, as I am into the feedlot and livestock farming business.
Fatting beef cattle in a feedlot system that has become a lucrative business in the country because it needs a consistent supply of quality beef that meets market needs for premium quality so, continuing with my education puts me in a better position to make sure that the business is successful.
A SJUGGLING
Juggling schoolwork and hustling is not easy, at times I take long breaks from hustling, which is not good for the business since customers end up not really relying on your services, the answer to how I juggle school with business is to give time to what needs more time at that season there are days where school needs a minimum of my time, that’s the time for the girl to shine and do some extra hustling, and there are days where school occupies all my space.
Sometime last year I partnered with my friends on selling perfumes we would hand over to each other customers if one is busy or occupied I guess that was the most helpfully strategy.
TIPS TO MAKE IT
God first (for wisdom). If it doesn’t work let it go not unless the vision is clear.
Try to work on a clear vision.
Take your time, if you need to stop and breathe do so, remember you are running your own marathon.
Make friends with people who value the same things as you.
Be consistent (needs extra work)
Don’t be quick to want end results. Exercise.
