Mayibongwe’s music to be registered, child to benefit
MBABANE – The Association of Christian Artists in Eswatini (ACAESWA) will honour the late award-winning Gospel musician Mayibongwe by registering her music.
The late musician’s funeral was on Saturday at her husbands’ home at 'on 'on in Mahlanya after a night vigil which was attended by over mourners.
She leaves behind a great legacy having won two of the biggest awards in the local *ospel industry. She won the %est *ospel $rtist award in as well as in and went on to be complemented with two cars where one was presented to her by the late Prime Minister Sibusiso %arnabas 'lamini.
Tivetonkhe Lucia Lukhele who is still young is her only child who will benefit from her music royalties.
)ollowing Mayibongwe’s demise $&$(SW$ has sworn to keep her musical legacy alive by registering her music. This was revealed by the Public 5elations 2fficer P52 of $&$(SW$ Nhlanhla MathunMwa during the vigil on Saturday. Mathun Mwa said “$s the association of artists locally we have suffered a great loss when it comes to Mayibongwe. How ever as a %oard we will not let her mu sic die as we are going to honour it.´
The President of $&$(SW$ Mx olisi Vilakati echoed MathunMwa’s words in an interview with this pub lication. He also disclosed how they will go about in honouring the artist’s music. “Here is what we are going to do we will honour her music through registering it under her child with the &opyright society. The children will get royalties from her music we will make sure that her legacy continues ´ the president said.

He further said that this will be something they are going to work on immediately after the &opyright soci ety has finished with the current ongo ing hiring of qualified professionals. “Since the local &opyright society is currently undergoing a hiring process. We are hoping to finalise the registra tion of Mayibongwe’s music as soon as they are done with the process. This is an initiative that will also benefit other artists in the country. This is because when the %oard successfully completes the hiring process artists will be able to benefit from their mu sic as royalties will be paid. $s soon as its operational our priority would be to accelerate the payments of the royalties to her children as well as the other artists ´ Vilakati said.

Her music grew popular in the local industry bagging airplays in local me diums such as (swatini %roadcasting and Information Services (%IS as well as (swatini Television.
