DA receives Shembe’s blessings

/ed by DA .=N proYincial leader, Francois Rodgers, the DA delegation attended a church serYice at the Na] areth Baptist Church ² popularly known as the Shembe Church ² in Pietermari­t]burg’s Edendale Town ship’s Nhlanhleni Temple.

The church serYice, which was attended by throngs of the Shembe Church’s followers, was presided oYer by the church’s leader, 0dudu]i µInkosi 8nya]i /we]ulu’ Shembe.

:ith its main base in .=N, the Shembe Church is belieYed to haYe more than four million followers.

Rodgers confirmed that the DA had gone to the church to seek Inkosi 8nya]i /we]ulu Shembe’s blessings ahead of ne[t year’s crucial elections.

The DA, which is .=N’s official opposition party, is currently in a bid to dislodge the ANC from power in ne[t year’s general elections.

:hile Rodgers asked the Shembe Church leader for prayers for peace ful elections in the proYince and the country, he also made it clear that the party needed the congregant­s’ prayers for µa change in goYernment’.

Citing the recent crime statistics showing that gender based Yiolence GB9 and the abuse of children was rife in .wa=ulu Natal and the entire country, Rodgers said “The current goYernment has clearly failed our women and children.´

Inkosi 8nya]i /we]ulu Shembe, who blessed the DA delegation, is a charismati­c church leader belieYed to possess spiritual powers.

Delegation

Throughout 0onday afternoon the weather in Edendale has been calm, with the sky being blue.

+oweYer, as Inkosi 8nya]i /we]ulu Shembe was about to enter the tem ple where the DA delegation and the church’s congregant­s were seated, rain clouds gathered, strong winds, which were followed by rain, suddenly hit the area.

Rodgers belieYes that he witnessed a miracle while in the Shemble Church temple.

“I haYe neYer seen something like that in my entire life,´ he said.

Rodgers and the DA delegation donated two cattle to the Shembe Church leader.

Should the DA win in ne[t year’s general elections, Rodgers said, the party will ensure that the proYincial goYernment attended to the needs of all the proYince’s residents.

“The DA is committed to serYing South Africans of all religions, races and cultures,´ he said.
