‘Birds’ POW request denied

MBABANE - Forget about it.

Capital city giants, Mbabane Swallows have been denied by the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) the rights to host Seven 'reams on Saturday at the Prince of Wales Sports *round.

“5eference is made to the above matter and your correspondence dated February , is hereby acknowledged.

“The office regrets to inform you that your reTuest to host the game against Seven 'reams FC at the Prince of Wales on the February ,

is unsuccessful due to security reasons. Fixtures of clubs with a history of full stadium attendance are considered µhigh risk¶ status and a Mbabane Swallows FC game at the Prince of Wales is high risk. .indly confirm another stadium that will not be of high risk to everyone in the stadium,” reads part of the letter from PLE.

Sandile µBeyond ¶ =wane said this was unfair to the club that was competing for the league title.

“We are competing for the league title and we have a right to host where we want.

“Why are people fighting the club when we should be treated eTually? Manzini Wanderers and Mbabane +ighlanders have played at the

Prince of Wales this season, so why are we being denied the right to host at our preferred stadium?” he asked rhetorically.

Swallows had initially written a letter to the PLE on Monday and asked to book the Prince of Wales for Saturday¶s game specifying that they would deploy security officers to make sure that everything was in order.

A fixture released by the PLE late yesterday showed that Swallows would cohost at .ing Sobhuza ,, Memorial Stadium with Sea Birds. The latter are visited by 'enver Sundowns at

pm, with Swallows¶ fixture two hours later.
