MBABANE – Lobamba Bhekisisa Bhembe has responded to those who accused him of campaigning.

Indvuna

Bhembe was accused by some residents of the area following a series of speeches he made during charity activities. The indvuna has a charity organisation named Mbhambadane Charity Organisation, which has been running charity programmes since he was elected. In one instance, Bhembe warned the constituents against electing moneyed people, whom he said forgot about them once they secured the higher pinnacle.

Informed

He told the residents that their choices should be informed by the efforts made by the candidates. However, some residents were of the view that Bhembe was using his charity organisation as a campaigning strategy.

In an interview yesterday, Bhembe said those who felt he was campaigning were touched by his work of realism. In vernacular he said; “Bayahlabeka.” Bhembe said his efforts should not be mistaken for campaigning.

“For now, it is time for my chance to work because I am still in office as Indvuna Yenkhundla. Everyone knows what befell the Lobamba Constituency. Going around telling people about a way forward shouldn’t be mixed with campaigning. People deserve to know what is going to happen to their projects, following what has befallen us. I have not requested for a vote from anyone. The time will come when people will make their choices,” he said.

He added that nothing had changed from the inkhundla calendar. He made an example that the inkhundla would be officially opening the Nkhanini Hall and Buhle Belizulu Water Project.

Asked about the charity organisation, Bhembe stated that he founded it for the benefit of the people. He said no matter how people were threatened by the organisation, he would not stop operating it. Bhembe stated that all people had the right to do charity work; however, he reminded them that for every charity to be accepted, it had to go via inkhundla and the royal kraal.
