Expelled for leading

-

The Nyamane High School pupil, it has been alleged, was the ring leader among some of his schoolmates, who went about the school and damaged classroom windows and even cars belonging to some of the teachers .

The Head teacher, Goodness Mkhabela, according to sources within the school, expelled the pupil.

The pupils were protesting against the dismissal of a teacher, who was suspected to have been dating six girls at the school. The teaching and learning process was interrupted by the pupils, as they claimed there were many teachers who were dating students, yet only that one particular teacher had been allegedly targeted.

The impeccable sources disclosed to Eswatini News that at the time of the protest by the pupils, the end of year exams had just been completed in almost all the grades at the school.

The sources revealed that trouble started when the principal

targeted only one pupil instead of all the eight pupils, who had allegedly been at the forefront of the protest.

According to the well-placed source, the principal allegedly ordered that the class teacher give a failing mark to the said pupil.

Shocked

“The head teacher allegedly instructed that a result of fail be written in a report of one of the pupils, who had also participated in the protest action at the school last year. When we heard that the pupil had failed, we were shocked as we knew that it was impossible for him to fail as he got above average marks in all the subjects we marked,” said one of the teachers, who also preferred to remain anonymous.

When this year begun, the principal allegedly ordered that the pupil be expelled from the school as he was the one responsible for damaging school property during the protest action.

“She, (head teacher) then took the exams transcripts which belonged to the pupil and burnt them after the parents came to the school and demanded to see the marked copies for themselves to ascertain if indeed their child had failed,” alleged a source.

When contacted, the father of the pupil said he was frustrated as to what to do as the head teacher had refused to accept his child back to school.

‘‘I went to meet the principal at the school but we did not reach an agreement, as she pointed out that in order for my son to be accepted back to class, I have to pay over E10 000 for the damaged classroom windows at the school.

Forgive

‘‘So as we speak, my son is home and I do not know what to do. All we are asking from the head teacher is to forgive our child and allow him back to class as he has a right to education,” said the father.
