to the rainfall. However, engineers from Probase Eswatini were onsite fixing the damaged sections of the road. The company was also fixing other roads that were also damaged in the other regions of the country.

Nosimilo Vilakati, who is the Communications Officer for the company, confirmed that they were fixing the roads countrywide. She said these were roads that had been affected by the torrential rainfall. Vilakati stated that these were roads that had been built by the company.

Vilakati also noted that they continued monitoring the roads and were committed to fixing them until 2033. She highlighted that it was not only because of the rain, but it was ordinary for the company to fix the roads.

She said that even the Director, Yek Chen Sooi, was frequently on the ground to ensure that the work was going on smoothly and that the roads did not have a problem.

Information

Vilakati said the company also relied on information from the communities to inform them about the damaged roads. She was not able to give the exact number of sites where the roads had been damaged, but confirmed that officers were checking all the ‘Probase roads’ in the country to ensure that they were still intact.

Nelson Mamba, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Timphisini inkhundla commended the organisation for acting swiftly to fix the road. He said he had also noticed that several sections of the road had been damaged due to the rainfall.

However, he said he was impressed at how fast the company had responded to fixing the roads. Mamba said the road was normally used by public transport and he was concerned that this could affect the flow of traffic.
