Musa wins Mkotoka LoL tourney

MBABANE – After several rain affected tournaments, Musa Shongwe put in a show to win this week’s Mkotoka Leg of Lamb (LOL) Golf Tournament.

The tournament was played on Friday at Mbabane Golf Course. Shongwe played 21 points to win the competition which attracted 34 golfers. Coming second was Mfanafuthi ‘Taribo’ Bhembe on 18 points and he beat seasoned golfer Sam ‘Styles’ Richards on a countback.

Countback compares the players’ scores over a range of holes, starting with the back nine holes. The scores are compared and the best score wins. If players are still tied, the scores are compared using the next criteria. This repeats until the order of the tied players has been found.

Taking the fourth spot was Mbabane Municipal’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Gideon Mhlongo who carded a score of 17 points after a countback. He beat George Mzungu on a countback, the latter also scored 17 points.

On sixth was Musa Motsa with 17 points, while Roger Kunene was on the seventh spot with 16 points. The club Captain Fisiwe

Vilane congratulated the winner as well as the all the golfers for their efforts. “The winner would have not won if he was playing alone, he had to compete against others to win so, we want to congratulate him and all golfers who made the tournament a success,” Vilane said.
