Hree teenagers held for attempted murder, arson

MANZINI - Three teenagers have been arrested for allegedly assaulting a man and further burning his house at Mbekelweni.

*Sive, *Sipho and *Senzo aged 17, 17 and 15 respective­ly, appeared before Magistrate Simangele Mbatha for attempted murder, arson and malicious injury to property.

In the first count, the accused persons are said to have unlawfully and intentiona­lly attempted to kill Sipho Dlamini, by assaulting him with a bush knife and sticks several times all over the body.

This is said to have happened at Mbekelweni on February 19.

Injured

It is alleged that the trio injured the complainan­t and his property, set on fire his house and the value of the damage was E80 000, according to count two.

In count three, the accused persons were charged with malicious injury to property. According to the charge sheet, the three damaged the complainan­t’s double bed, fridge, sponge, wall unit, as well as radio and dishes, among other items.

The value of the items is E26 300.

The minors were released to the custody of their respective parents.

They will appear in court on April 18. Meanwhile, Bonginkhos­i Celumusa Mastebula (27) was arrested for allegedly stealing a quad bike and stealing from a Honda Fit vehicle.

He reportedly stole the quad bike valued at E25 000 in the lawful possession of Fanase Ginindza at Vulamehlo on January 28.

The accused further purportedl­y broke and entered into the Honda Fit with intent to steal at Maliyaduma on January 6.

He allegedly stole a car radio, a black car jack, Masta 900 pill, red foot pump and a TQM battery.

The items belonged to Nimrod Themba Dlamini.

Stole

He further allegedly broke into and entered a Honda Fit at Maliyaduma on August 17, where he reportedly stole an alternator, battery and exhaust.

In another matter, a 17-year-old was arrested for allegedly raping his 11-yearold sister.

He was charged under the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Act.

According to the charge sheet, the accused intentiona­lly forced himself on his sister without using protection.

This allegedly happened between the month of August and October at Zondwako in the Manzini Region.

The accused was remanded in custody until March 8 pending committal to the High Court.
