- BY MELISA MSWELI

NHLANGANO – Shiselweni PUDEMO Chairperson Norman Xaba is requesting members of the public to assist locate his 15-year-old daughter, who was last seen last Saturday.

The missing teenager, Ayanda ‘Skobho’ Xaba (15), is a Form II pupil at Mantambe High School.

Norman stated that his daughter was with her age mate relative on Saturday and she was the last person who got to see her, though that did not suggest that she knew where she was. He stated that he was away and learnt about his child’s disappearance when he returned.

It is not known as to what she was wearing when she left, as according to Xaba, the last person who saw her was not giving out information.

It was said that the minor did not have a phone, though she had an active Facebook account, where she wrote that she was fine wherever she was, though the family doesn’t believe she was the one who wrote the message on the post.

“The wording of the post is nowhere near the way she talks, so we are not buying it,” said Norman.

It was gathered that there was a community meeting on Wednesday, wherein the residents met and mapped a way forward to go and search for her in the forests and further spread the news of her being missing even on social media.

Norman said they reported the matter to the police, who called them a few days ago but never came to his home.

When asked whether or not he felt the incident was politically inclined, he said anything was possible, but they were more concerned about getting her back alive. He made a request to anyone who was keeping his daughter to release her, adding that they would confront them on why they kept her all along.

Chief Police Information and Communication Officer Superintendent Phindile Vilakati confirmed that a matter of a 15-year-old, who went missing, was reported to the police.
