MBABANE – Candidates in the race for the new Eswatini Athletics (AE) Executive seats have been revealed following the conclusion of the nominations exercise.

AE Chief Operations Officer (COO) Thoba Mazibuko had earlier on, last month, advised clubs to send their nominations for the Executive Board. A candidates list has since been revealed and it is headlined by the race between the incumbent President Zakhele Dlamini and renowned Technical Official Selby Shongwe.

The nominations were made under four positions which are that of the president and the vice, gender and equality chairperson who was required to be a female and the treasure position. Clubs filled in the names of the candidates under each position and Victor ‘Mavikane’ Dlamini, who is AE’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) confirmed the latest developments and sent best wishes to the new executive who will assume power on the day. “Clubs have nominated on behalf of the athletics family and I just want to wish all those nominated the best of luck,” he said briefly. The new executive is expected to be elected into office on March 11, as the AE is expected to hold its elective Annual General Assembly (AGM). The outgoing nine-member executive is led by President Dlamini. They came into office four years ago.
