MANZINI – The national commission­er of the REPS, has described the former Manzini Station Commander Dumisani Dube as a problem solver.

Dumisani died from a gunshot wound in his head on February 26, 2023. He was based at the Manzini Police Station as the station commander when he met his untimely death.

Throngs of mourners gathered at the Divine Healing Ministries yesterday for a memorial service that attracted people from different walks of life, including legal practition­ers, magistrate­s and members of the security forces.

Princess Ncengencen­ge was also in attendance as well as the chief of Mpolonjeni, where the late police officer hailed from.

Assistant Commission­er Shadreck Simelane, who spoke on behalf of the REPS National Commission­er (NATCOM) William Tsitsibala Dlamini, said: “Today, we celebrate the life of Dumisani

Dube”.

He revealed that Dube joined the police in 1997 and also described him as a person who was very loyal. He worked as a traffic police officer for most of his years while in service.

He said Dube never stopped thinking about how best to serve the country. Simelane said Dube was also focussed on youth developmen­t. He mentioned that Dube showed leadership skills throughout his career as a police officer, until his death.

Simelane urged the mourners not to blame themselves for

Dube’s death but that it was his time to die and that God agreed to it.

Mandla Khumalo, a speaker who introduced himself as a businesspe­rson said the death of Dumisani was shocking.

He said as businesspe­ople, they worked well with Dumisani in fighting crime. The Mayor of Manzini, Mxolisi Waxola Mabuza,. was also one of the speakers.

He spoke on behalf of the Manzini City Council. Mabuza described the death of Dube as a great loss.
