HHUKWINI – Mkhulu Samuel Magongo (85) has advised both the young and elderly to stop having multiple sexual partners as they would be in danger of contracting HIV/AIDS.

Speaking during yesterday’s Health Day organised by Baylor Clinic in conjunction with the Ministry of Health, together with the National Emergency Response Council on HIV/AIDS (NERCHA), the elderly Magongo pointed out that there are dire consequences when one chooses to having sexual intercourse with multiple partners.

“I do not know much about HIV/ AIDS, but what I have been taught at the health centres is that it is a deadly virus that is easily contracted when one has more than one sexual partner. I would like to advise everyone here to stop being promiscuous. You find that one sleeps with another man’s wife and places that family in danger of contracting the virus. This has to stop as there are many people who are affected due to the poor decision one makes,” advised Mkhulu Magongo.

Another resident, who was given the opportunity by the programme director during the event, was Gogo Betfwayini Mabuza (79), who advised community members not to ridicule those who had already contracted the virus.

“It is high time that discrimination and stigmatisation stops in our communities. As taking ARV tablets was the same as taking medication for other ailments. It is not that person’s fault that he/she is HIV positive,” pointed out Gogo Mabuza.

Gogo Mabuza and Mkhulu Magongo’s statements were part of the numerous statements made by residents during the Health Day at Hhukwini Constituency which is a few kilometres from the capital city of Mbabane.
