PIGG’S PEAK – At least two were stabbed over the weekend in Pigg’s Peak town during fights which started in bars.

One of those who were stabbed died on Saturday while undergoing treatment and the other is reportedly fighting for his life in hospital.

According to sources, who witnessed the incident, a fight ensued in one of the bars around town. The fight is said to have escalated out of the bar as the two, who were involved in the fight, were seen by bar patrons chasing each other.

“One drew a knife and started chasing the other. The one who was being chased with the knife ran away towards one of the butcheries near the bus rank where he is employed. Upon arrival at the butchery, where there are also shops nearby, he then allegedly drew a knife to then stab his assailant to death,” confided a source.

According to information reaching this publication, the man who worked at the butchery, upon arrival, he grabbed a sharp object and stabbed the other who had all along been chasing him from a bar, which is located just about a 100 metres from the butchery.

Drinking

“What really happened is that the two were close friends, they have been drinking together and the deceased had money on the day, he was buying drinks for the other friend with whom they were drinking the alcohol. The suspected killer then robbed of his friend money, while they were drinking which was the cause of the fight,” confided a source.

The source further disclosed that upon realising that his friend had robbed him yet he was buying him alcohol beverages, he got angry and that was when he allegedly drew the knife and started chasing his friend.

Sources claim that the friend who had allegedly stolen the money ran towards the butchery and then hid by a corner of the butchery building, where he allegedly drew the sharp object he used to kill the friend he had allegedly stolen his money from.

Meanwhile, the previous day, at a bar adjacent to the one where the two alleged friends who ended up stealing and having one stabbed to death, a bar patron was also stabbed in a fight that ensued while drinking alcoholic beverages and is said to be still fighting for his life in hospital. “It has now become fashionable for those
