PIGG’S PEAK – A 30-year old man of Siphofaneni has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his lover in the head several times.

Sikhumbuzo Magagula appeared before Pigg’s Peak Magistrate Vusi Thomo yesterday where he was granted bail fixed at E3 000.

The magistrate ordered that the accused return in court on March 14, 2023 for trial. Sipho is said to have contravened Section 77(1)(a) of the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence (SODV) Act 15/2018, in that upon or about February 26, 2023 and at or near Ekufikeni in the Hhohho District, the accused person did unlawfully commit an act of physical abuse to one *Ncobile, his lover, by stabbing her with a knife several times in the head and in the arm and this *Not real name to protect minor. contravened the said Act.

Magistrate Thomo had ordered that Sipho be remanded in custody until March 14, 2023, the day on which his trial date had been set. However, the accused pleaded for bail from the court and the main reason he asked that he was to be released on bail he said was due to the fact that he was undergoing training at Rocklands Mill.

“I plead with the court to grant me bail because I am undergoing training at Rocklands Mill. If I were to be detained at a Correctional facility, I will lose so much in as far as the training programme is concerned,” he said.

Magistrate Thomo wanted to know if Sipho was married or not and he responded to the negative. However, he informed the court that he was planning to get married soon, and by soon he meant September this year.
