SITEKI – A 24-year-old man of Sitsatsawe­ni has been charged with the abduction of a 17-yearold minor.

Lunga Dlamini appeared before Siteki Magistrate Cebsile Ngwenya yesterday, charged with the abduction of *Zinhle, with the intention of performing sexual act without the consent of her custodian.

The magistrate remanded the accused back in custody until his next appearance in court next week Tuesday, pending the setting of the trial date on March 29.

He elected to conduct his own defence. The Crown said it would have to take the minor for medical checkups to ascertain if the accused had sexual intercours­e with her.

The offence was allegedly, committed on February 21, 2023 at Sitsatsawe­ni, under KaLanga Chiefdom.

Assaulting

In another matter, Sandile Dlamini (43) of Nsulutane also appeared charged with assaulting his sister, Jabu Dlamini on December 23, 2022. Sandile was charged for assaulting Jabu with a hammer on her back and further strangling her.

He was sentenced to a year imprisonme­nt with an option to a pay a fine of E1 000.

Meanwhile, the duo of Thembela Cecil Matsebula (49) of KaLanga and Sipho Lugidzi Mathousand Hlatjwako (43) of Sibovini appeared at the court charged with stealing 16 goats at Matsetsa.

Both accused persons allegedly stole the goats belonging to Patrick Mavala Dlamini at Nyetane and some were stolen at Matsetsa. The offences were committed on November 30, 2022 and January 8, 2023 respective­ly.

Their bail applicatio­n was denied by the Crown and the matter was postponed to March 21, 2023 pending the setting of the trial date.
